Diagnostic & Repair Policy

Effective Date: 30/06/2025

At JD Automotive, some vehicle faults require a staged diagnostic process to accurately identify the underlying issue and determine the most appropriate repair pathway.

Due to the nature of mechanical and electrical faults, additional testing, disassembly, cleaning, repairs, or replacement of components may be required before a full diagnosis can be completed.

Diagnostic Process

Vehicles presented with faults may require:

  • Initial inspections and testing

  • Diagnostic labour and fault tracing

  • Removal or replacement of failed or contaminated components

  • Cleaning or preparation work to allow safe and accurate testing

  • Additional testing following repairs or reassembly

In some cases, underlying or unrelated faults may only become apparent once initial repairs or testing have been completed.

Approvals & Authorisation

JD Automotive will make reasonable efforts to communicate findings, estimated costs, and recommended next steps before proceeding with repair work where practicable.

Approval to proceed with repairs or diagnostic work may be provided verbally, electronically, or in writing and constitutes authorisation for JD Automotive to carry out the agreed work.

Additional Faults

Vehicles with multiple, pre-existing, age-related, neglected, modified, overheating, oil contamination, or internal mechanical issues may require staged diagnosis.

JD Automotive is not responsible for pre-existing faults, internal mechanical failures, or consequential failures identified during or after the diagnostic process where such conditions existed prior to repair work commencing.

Diagnostic Outcomes

Diagnostic labour, testing, and parts used during the repair process are chargeable regardless of the final outcome of the diagnosis or repair.

While every effort is made to accurately diagnose faults, some internal failures may only be confirmed after further testing, disassembly, or progression of the fault.

Customer-Supplied Parts

Where customer-supplied parts are used:

  • JD Automotive cannot guarantee the quality, suitability, or compatibility of supplied components

  • Warranty applies to workmanship only

  • Additional labour charges may apply where supplied parts are incorrect, faulty, or require modification

Vehicle Collection & Safety

Where a vehicle is deemed unsafe or not recommended for normal driving following inspection or diagnosis, JD Automotive will advise the customer accordingly. Any decision to continue operating the vehicle after collection remains the responsibility of the vehicle owner/operator.

Policy Updates

JD Automotive reserves the right to update this policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
